History tends to repeat itself. After fifteen years of rocking a place, it was time for a new innings.
Now, it seems like déjà vu.
When you venture on an unknown ground, all the vultures set in…
Business has taught me two principles to follow and propound…
1. Have no EGO. Ego blocks your learning process. And learning is accessible through all forms of living strata.
2. Never take a COMMISSION for just introducing people on to a project or any business deal.
I will never introduce a stranger to any project that I work on. He has to be either personally handpicked or has to be very strongly recommended.
I have a lot of talented friends and I create opportunities for them.
Create?
For example, one of my friends is a photographer. Every time a conversation veers towards a photo op, I enquire and I pitch for him. And create a requirement most of the times. My photographer friend still does not know about it.
No commission. Only goodwill.
My real estate friend charges no brokerage for all my deals. Only goodwill.
Therefore, no sub-standard stuff creeps into my projects.
So here I was, fighting a lone battle when the angel arrived.
“Anna” is an ex-professor of one of the premier institutions of the country for catering and hotel management.
Someone asked me, “Why do put so much effort when everyone takes it for granted, including the owner? It puts you back via time and money, while all around you are making the fast buck.”
I smiled at him and answered, “I am aboard a ship with hundreds of blind people. I am the only person who has the sight. If I can, and reach them towards happiness, I will be benefitting all of them including me. Is that not a big enough picture to see?
Vultures and the Commission men.
The battle continues…
The battle to create a landmark out of a dream.
The vultures and the egoists seem to be fading away. But you don’t know.
Anna is teaching me the nuances (human attributes) of wine and haute cuisine. I am relishing the experience of going to school again. There is so little learnt. There is so much more to learn.
